Avalon started training CrossFit in 2015 while living in Tokyo and struggling with finding a healthy lifestyle balance in a new country. Living in Japan was a challenge for a multitude of reasons, but finding a sense of belonging was high on the list. When she joined CrossFit Roppongi, she found new friends in a foreign place, reignited her passion for exercise and got her on the way to better health.
It was only a year later after returning to Adelaide that she dived into her Fitness Certificates, closely followed by her CF-L1. The technical aspects of gymnastics and Olympic lifting, interwoven with cardio capacity and mental toughness had her hungry for more.
Her love for the sport quickly deepened when she joined CrossFit Mode and really started going from strength to strength. She began taking Fundamentals classes for people new to the gym, before meeting her husband and falling pregnant with their first son, who was born at the beginning of the pandemic. Rebuilding her body from pregnancy and a traumatic birth was made even more challenging with gym closures and no equipment at home, but she was determined to come back fitter and stronger than ever as a post-partum athlete. This ignited a new passion for her, in helping pregnant and post-partum athletes stay positive during pregnancy, continue training and do the best for their bodies and their babies. In 2024, she gained her first Pre and Postnatal Training Accreditation.
Having worked across various functional fitness gyms, Avalon has always loved helping people move well and surpass their own expectations of themselves. Now, owning Soul with her husband Duncan, she aims to create a space that accommodates every athlete, from the very beginner, to the injured, to the pregnant and post-partum mums, through to the competitive athletes that are looking for podiums.
