TYLER KEY

Health and fitness have been a huge part of Tyler’s life since he was 13, when he started playing rugby. Being the unapologetic nerd that he is, he started reading sport and exercise textbooks and academic journals, determined to understand how to perform at his best.

He started CrossFit at age 14 to support his rugby development, later branching into powerlifting alongside regional NSW Rugby strength and conditioning academy commitments. Tyler played Rugby at the highest levels, representing NSW Country for three consecutive years before moving to Sydney to compete in First Grade Under-20s, trialling with the Waratahs, and studying Sport and Exercise Science.

Tyler began coaching in 2016 after completing his Cert III and IV in Fitness, and has since coached across a wide range of modalities: CrossFit, sport-based strength and conditioning, gymnastics, powerlifting, bodybuilding, and weightlifting.

In 2021, he completed his nutrition coaching certification after realising a truth people eventually face: nutrition is the real challeng when it comes to body composition and performance (exercise is actually the easy part).

His coaching philosophy is built on recognising that everyone brings has a unique history with health and fitness, with many not having positive experiences along the way. He focuses on creating joyful, confidence‑building movement first and then backing people to push themselves if performance is what they’re after. Along the way, he helps people build a healthier, more empowered relationship with food so they can improve both their overall health and movement potential.

Tyler seeks to ensure that people fall in love with fitness in a way that we’re all still in the gym and having fun at 90. Play the long game and have fun doing it.
